Francis Uzoho kept a clean sheet as Omonia Nicosia secured a 2-0 victory over Dynamo Kyiv in their fourth UEFA Europa Conference League game of the season.

After three winless outings, Omonia were eager for their first triumph of the campaign, aiming to revive their Conference League hopes and keep the possibility of reaching the round of 16 playoffs alive.

The Cyprus side opened the scoring in the 34th minute through Willy Semedo, who converted a penalty, before striker Angelos Neofytou doubled the lead in the 59th minute. The hosts then defended resolutely, repelling multiple advances from Dynamo Kyiv.

The Super Eagles’ shot-stopper played a key role in the victory, making four crucial saves to secure his first clean sheet of the season in the competition, the team’s first in four Conference League matches.

Manager Henning Berg has opted to start Uzoho in their last three Conference League games, having benched him for first-choice Fabiano in their season opener. Omonia remain unbeaten in the competition with the Nigerian in goal.

Despite his impressive performance, Uzoho received a yellow card in the 75th minute for time-wasting.

Uzoho’s compatriot, Elijah Ogundana, featured for Dynamo Kyiv for 63 minutes before being substituted for Eduardo Guerrero.
