D’Tigers forward Chima Moneke’s impressive 19-point performance wasn’t enough to secure a second EuroLeague win for Baskonia, as they fell 78-71 to Crvena Zvezda on Wednesday.
Starting in the game, Moneke contributed significantly with 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. However, his efforts weren’t enough to prevent Baskonia’s first loss of the competition, following their opening victory over Partizan Belgrade.

Despite the loss, Moneke was named Baskonia’s Most Valuable Player for his outstanding performance.
With a 1-1 record, Baskonia currently sits in 9th place in the EuroLeague standings but could potentially drop further after today’s games.
Looking ahead, Moneke will aim to help Baskonia bounce back to winning ways when they face Spanish rivals Real Madrid next Tuesday. Before that, his focus will shift to domestic competition as he seeks to secure Baskonia’s first Liga ACB win of the season against Ucam Murcia on Saturday.
The team, led by Pablo Laso, is still searching for their first victory after losing their initial two games against Tenerife and MoraBanc Andorra. A win this weekend could provide a much-needed boost to their season.
