Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has announced his starting XI for Nigeria’s crucial World Cup playoff encounter against Gabon at the Stade Prince Moulay El Hassan, Bold Sports reports.
Wilfred Ndidi will once again captain the team as the Super Eagles look to keep their qualification hopes alive. With William Troost-Ekong starting from the bench, Fulham’s Calvin Bassey will partner young defender Benjamin Frederick in central defense, while Bright Osayi-Samuel and Zaidu Sanusi take up roles as fullbacks.
In midfield, Ndidi will be joined by Alex Iwobi, who will be making his 90th appearance for the national team, a remarkable milestone in his international career.

The attack features a dangerous blend of pace and power, with Samuel Chukwueze operating from the right flank after his impressive two-assist performance against Benin Republic. Ademola Lookman starts on the left, while Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams form the striking duo upfront.
Osimhen, who netted a hat-trick against Benin to secure Nigeria’s place in the playoff, will once again lead the charge as the Super Eagles aim to deliver a crucial victory.
Kick-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. Nigerian time, with the stakes as high as ever. Anything short of victory would see Nigeria miss the FIFA World Cup for a second consecutive edition.
