Remo Stars have sealed their place in the second round of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League after dispatching Comoros’ US Zilimadjou 5-0 on aggregate in the preliminary stage.

The Sky Blue Stars set the tone with a commanding 4-0 victory in the first leg on Sunday at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, before wrapping up the tie with a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture at the same venue.

Alex Oyowah’s 73rd-minute strike ensured back-to-back wins, marking the first time in the club’s history that they have progressed beyond the preliminary round, at the third time of asking.

Their reward is a daunting clash against South African giants and last season’s runners-up, Mamelodi Sundowns, who received a bye into the second round.

The 2016 CAF Champions League winners have started their domestic campaign strongly, sitting second in the PSL with five wins, three draws, and just one defeat from nine matches.

The second-round fixtures are scheduled for October, with Remo Stars hosting the first leg between October 17–19 in Abeokuta, before traveling to Pretoria for the decisive return leg at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium between October 24–26.

The winner of the two-legged tie will secure a coveted spot in the lucrative group stage of the competition.
