Nigerian forward Brown Ideye has penned an emotional farewell to Enyimba and its fans, bringing his season-long stint with the club to an end.

The former Super Eagles striker joined the People’s Elephants in December 2024, aiming to bolster their push for a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage and a strong title run in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Despite his best efforts, Ideye’s presence couldn’t guide Enyimba to either objective, as the club fell short of reaching the Confederation Cup group stage and missed out on the NPFL title.

Nevertheless, the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner impacted the team, management, and fans with his leadership, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the club’s cause.

During his time in Aba, the 36-year-old former West Bromwich Albion striker scored five goals in 13 appearances across all competitions for the nine-time NPFL champions.

In his farewell message posted on social media, Ideye expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Enyimba family:

“It’s been an honour to wear the jersey and play for one of the biggest and best football clubs in Nigeria and Africa.

“As I move on, I’m grateful for the fond memories we created together on and off the pitch. I appreciate the love, respect, and support you all gave me from day one. This club will always have a special place in my heart.”
