Nigeria’s Blessing Oborududu failed to qualify for the final of the women’s 68kg wrestling event on Monday after losing her semi-final bout.
Oborodudu failed in her bid to do better than her silver-winning display at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics after losing 3-1 to Kyrgyzstani’s Meerim Zhumanazarova.
Oborududu scored the first point of the bout. Still, the Kyrgyzstani came back to score three straight points to win the game and qualify to the finals where she’ll face impressive American debutant Amit Elor in the final.
Oborodudu is now set for a repechage mini-tournament where she will vie for one of the two bronze medals available.
