Nigerian forward Anthony Ujah on Wednesday said goodbye to German Bundesliga 2 side Eintracht Braunschweig with a heartfelt message after two seasons with the club.
Ujah’s contract ended on June 30th, 2024, drawing the curtain on his two-season stint with the team. His first year was a highlight, with 10 goals and 5 assists in 29 league appearances.
However, Ujah’s strong start to the 2023/24 season, with 3 goals and an assist in his first 7 games, was unfortunately cut short by a shoulder injury (acromioclavicular joint dislocation) that sidelined him for 10 games. He wasn’t able to score in the following 15 games after returning from injury.
Despite the mixed success of his two seasons, Anthony Ujah expressed his gratitude to the club for their hospitality in a farewell message.
“Dear Eintracht fans, after two years with you my time here has come to an end,” the Nigerian striker posted on Instagram.
“I arrived in Braunschweig after a difficult time with injury and you all gave me an incredible support and love that brought back my passion for football again. It‘s difficult to say goodbye but every beginning has an end.
“I‘m extremely proud to wear the jersey of Eintracht and to achieve our goal in both seasons. It was pure joy to come to work every day and I will never forget my time here. Many thanks to all teammates, the staff, coaches, and our great supporters. I wish the team a very successful season, I will definitely come to say a proper goodbye when the time is right.”
