D’Tigress forward Amy Okonkwo once again delivered a Player of the Match performance, scoring 24 points to propel Beşiktaş Women to a hard-fought 80–72 victory over Ormanspor Women in their Turkish Women’s Basketball Super League Round 3 clash on Sunday.
Beşiktaş, who sit just behind leaders Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, needed the win to keep the pressure at the top – and they did just that with a commanding display for most of the game.
Starting alongside Ozge Ozisik, Migna Traore, Meltem Yildizhan, and Maria Fasoula, Okonkwo led from the front as Beşiktaş controlled three of the four quarters. They outscored Ormanspor 18–14, 25–21, and 22–21 in the first three periods before their opponents rallied in the fourth, edging it 16–15, but it wasn’t enough to overturn the deficit.
Okonkwo finished with a game-high 24 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists, shooting an impressive 5-of-7 from two-point range, 3-of-7 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 5-of-5 from the free-throw line.

Pelin Bilgic contributed 18 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists, while Nikolina Milić added 13 points and 6 rebounds, and Migna Traore chipped in 10 points and 5 rebounds to seal the win.
For Ormanspor, Brianna Fraser led the scoring with 26 points, while Kristine Anigwe posted a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds. Diamond DeShields added 9 points and 4 rebounds in the loss.
Up next for Beşiktaş is a EuroCup clash against Charnay Basket Bourgogne Sud of France as they aim to continue their impressive run of form.
