Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has been suspended by Tanzanian Premier League side Singida Black Stars S.C. over alleged match-fixing.
The 26-year-old shot-stopper was handed a three-month suspension pending investigation, according to an official statement issued by the club on 27 February 2026.
The suspension means no determination of guilt has been made at this stage, as investigations are ongoing.
Obasogie featured for Singida Black Stars in a 1–1 league draw against Namungo just a day before the disciplinary decision was announced.
Club Statement reads, “In a notice signed by the Office of the Chief Executive Officer, the club confirmed disciplinary measures against two players:
“The management of Singida Black Stars SC, through its Disciplinary Committee, has taken disciplinary action against players Khalid Aucho and Amas Obasogie as follows:
1. Khalid Aucho: Has been sanctioned for indiscipline and absenteeism from work and has therefore been suspended from duty for three months.
2. Amas Obasogie: Has been suspended from duty for three months pending investigation into allegations of match-fixing.
The club reminds all its players and staff to adhere to discipline, accountability, and respect for the club.”
The club did not disclose further details about the specific match or circumstances surrounding the allegations.
National Team Background
Obasogie has been part of the Nigeria national football team set-up over the past three years, largely serving as a backup goalkeeper.
He was included in Nigeria’s squad that finished third at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, further cementing his presence within the national team structure.

His recent call-ups had suggested increasing confidence from the technical crew before this latest development.
What Happens Next?
With investigations underway, the goalkeeper will remain sidelined for three months unless further action is taken.
The outcome of the probe could have significant implications not only for his club career in Tanzania but also for his future involvement with the Super Eagles.
