The Algerian U-17 women’s national team, the Fennecs, held their first training session on Thursday ahead of the first leg of their third-round FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Nigeria’s Flamingos. The match is scheduled for Saturday, April 19, at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.
The Algerians arrived in Nigeria on Wednesday ahead of their highly anticipated clash with Nigeria, one of the continent’s favourites to qualify for the U-17 Women’s World Cup, set to take place in Morocco later this year.
Thursday’s training session took place on one of the annex pitches at the Remo Stars Stadium, kicking off around 6:45 p.m. All players who made the trip participated in the session, which focused on light drills and tactical adjustments.

In line with FIFA regulations, the Fennecs will hold their final training session on Friday evening on the main pitch to familiarise themselves with the playing surface.
The Algerians will be aiming to secure a positive result in Nigeria ahead of the return leg, which is scheduled for Friday, April 25, at 8:00 p.m. at the Mustapha Tchaker Stadium in Blida.
To reach this stage, Algeria beat Tunisia and Burkina Faso in the first and second qualifying phase while Nigeria who was drwn bye for the first round displaced arch rivals South Africa 5-1 on aggregate to reach this stage
