Danish giants FC Copenhagen are ready to ship Nigerian winger Akinkunmi Amoo out on loan to Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia after failing to make a mark since joining the club in January 2021 from Swedish side Hammarby.
Copenhagen paid €4.3 million to Swedish side Hammarby in January of 2022 for the services of the Nigerian who has failed to live up to the billing. He’s made just four senior team appearances for the club scoring once.
Head coach of the Danish side, Jes Mortensen, has confirmed that the Nigerian is currently undergoing trials with Omonia Nicosia who are holding their preseason camp out in Poland.
The 21-year-old is contracted to FC Copenhagen until 2026. He will be hoping to restart his career with the Cypriot side should he pass his trials.
According to reports, Amoo was last seen in Copenhagen’s training facility in September 2022 after suffering a knee injury. The Nigerian who shot into the limelight during his time at Hammarby has found life difficult in Denmark and according to reports, he is facing an alleged sexual assault trial.
Amoo had been seen as one of Nigeria’s future stars and was invited to the Super Eagles camp for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Ghana in Abuja.
