Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade made her highly anticipated debut for Paris Saint-Germain Féminines on Saturday, while fellow Nigerian Jennifer Echegini provided an assist in PSG’s 1-1 draw against newly-promoted Lens in their French Division 1 Féminine opener, Bold Sports reports.
Echegini set up Merveille Kanjinga for the opener, giving PSG an early advantage and raising hopes of a dominant start to the campaign.
However, the Parisians failed to convert further chances, allowing Lens to grow into the game. The hosts eventually found a late equaliser through Sherly Jeudy in the 84th minute, denying PSG maximum points.
Ajibade, who joined PSG this summer, was introduced at the start of the second half, replacing Crystal Dunn as head coach Paulo Cesar sought to inject more attacking intent. Despite her lively display, Lens stood firm defensively before striking late to secure a share of the spoils.

Asides from her assist, Jennifer Echegini impressed during the game and lasted 88 minutes before making way for highly-rated 17-year-old Anaïs Ebayilin, underlining her growing importance to PSG’s setup.
The result marked a disappointing start to the season for PSG, who will be eager for three points when they host Nantes on Saturday, September 20. Lens, on the other hand, will take encouragement from their resilient display as they prepare to face Strasbourg in their next league fixture.
