The Super Eagles’ players commenced their first training session today at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, in preparation for their crucial 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone.
The match is scheduled to take place at the SKD Sports Complex in Monrovia, Liberia on June 18.
Following their disappointing 1-0 defeat against Guinea-Bissau at home, the Eagles are determined to bounce back and secure maximum points against the Leone Stars, a result that would guarantee their qualification for next year’s AFCON competition in Ivory Coast.
Out of the 21 players present at the training camp, two outfield players, Chidiebube Duru from Rivers United and Divine Nwachukwu from Bendel Insurance, were granted a day off for rest. However, Enyimba and Rivers United goalkeepers, Ojo Olorunleke and Victor Sochima, actively participated in the training session.
Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, and Bright Osayi-Samuel are yet to arrive at the camp at the time of reporting.
When asked about his unpaid wages, Peseiro declined to comment, emphasizing that his primary focus is on fulfilling his responsibilities.
“My immediate priority is to train diligently today, tomorrow, and the following days leading up to Sunday’s match against Sierra Leone. I am solely dedicated to securing victory and qualification for AFCON.”
