Afrobeats superstar Davido has been confirmed as one of the headline performers for the official kick-off concert of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, (AFCON) joining a star-studded lineup that includes French Montana, Douaa Lahyaoui, Says’z, and Lartiste.
The announcement was made on Thursday by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as part of activities ushering in Africa’s biggest football showpiece.
According to CAF, the concert will take place on Saturday at the Olm Souissi Fan Zone in Rabat, running from 18:00 to 00:00 local time. The event will be open to fans with free entry for holders of Fan IDs and match tickets, providing a festive curtain-raiser ahead of the tournament’s first matches.
The appearance marks another major sport-related performance for Davido, who has become a familiar face at high-profile global sporting events. Earlier this year, the Grammy-nominated star performed at Nigeria’s National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, while he also thrilled fans at the 2022 FIFA World Cup final in Qatar.
Davido also performed at the 2017 AFCON opening ceremony, the 2022 FIFA World Cup draw held in Doha, and the 2023 Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) awards.

On the pitch, the 2025 AFCON officially gets underway on Sunday as hosts Morocco take on Comoros at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah in Rabat. Monday’s fixtures will see Mali, South Africa, and Egypt face Zambia, Angola, and Zimbabwe respectively as the group-stage action gathers momentum.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles have arrived in Fes, where they will play all their group matches against Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda. The Nigerian delegation traveled from Cairo after a four-day training camp as part of their final preparations for the tournament.
The Super Eagles’ buildup included a friendly match against the Pharaohs of Egypt, which ended in a 2–1 defeat. Despite the setback, the team will be hoping to fine-tune their tactics in Fes as they look to make a strong start to their AFCON campaign and challenge for continental glory.
