Super Eagles have booked their place in the round of 16 of the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after their 1-0 win over Guinea-Bissau in their final Group A game at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium on Monday.
Opa Sangare put the ball inside his own net in the 36th minute miscuing Moses Simon’s cross. The goal was enough to put the Eagles to scale through from the group but not enough for them to top the group going into the second round.

The Super Eagles were wasteful in front of goal, failing to convert several chances, while the goals scored were ruled out for offside and handball. Equatorial Guinea finished top of the group after humbling hosts Ivory Coast in the other Group A match.
Nigeria has looked unconvincing in the competition, scoring just one goal from open play in the competition despite having one of the strongest striking forces in the competition, which includes the current African Footballer of the Year, Victor Osimhen.
Moses Simon was voted the man of the match.
Nigeria will face the second-placed team in Group C. The battle for second place in the Group is between Guinea and former African champions Cameroon.
