Ademola Lookman is on the verge of winning his first title with Atlético Madrid as they face Real Sociedad in the final of the Copa del Rey on Saturday at the La Cartuja Stadium.
Despite only joining during the winter transfer window, Lookman has quickly become one of the standout performers for Diego Simeone’s side, recently playing a key role in their run to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
The Nigerian forward has been instrumental in Atlético’s journey to the Copa del Rey final, contributing two goals and two assists in just three appearances in the competition. He announced himself in style with a goal in the 5-0 demolition of Real Betis on his debut, and was also on target in the emphatic 4-0 victory over FC Barcelona.
Atlético Madrid, 10-time winners of the competition, last lifted the trophy in the 2012/13 season after defeating rivals Real Madrid CF in the final. Real Sociedad, meanwhile, have won the tournament three times and will be aiming to secure their fourth title.

The Super Eagles star is no stranger to delivering on the big stage. He famously helped Atalanta BC defeat Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League final, scoring a sensational hat-trick.
Since arriving in February, Lookman has recorded six goals and four assists in 17 appearances across all competitions, underlining his immediate impact in Madrid.
