Super Falcons forward, Asisat Oshoala, etched her name in Bay FC’s history books by netting their first-ever goal in the National Women’s Soccer League, securing a 1-0 win over Angel City FC in their league curtain-raiser on the road.
The seasoned Oshoala, recently acquired from Barcelona Femini, notched the landmark goal in the 17th minute, capitalizing on Tess Boade’s interception and delivering a clinical finish inside the penalty area.

Reflecting on her historic contribution, Oshoala remarked, “My career has always been about making history, and I am very happy to be a part of the history at this club.”
Despite Angel City’s dominance throughout the match, boasting a lion’s share of possession, they struggled to breach the opposition’s defense. Despite amassing 12 corner kicks, they failed to convert any into goals.
“Sometimes you take just one opportunity to win a game, which was exactly what happened today,” Oshoala said. “We tried to make use of the opportunity. And for me … I was trying to look back to see if I was not offside.”
Looking ahead, the newcomers aim to showcase an enhanced performance as they journey to Audi Field to take on the Washington Spirit in their second league encounter. Meanwhile, the Spirit will be eager to rebound from their 1-0 defeat to Seattle Reign FC on the opening day.
