The 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) produced another action-packed round of fixtures on Matchday 5, with 22 goals recorded across nine matches, Bold Sports reports.
Sporting Lagos secured the headline result in Aba, while Rangers, Shooting Stars, Kwara United, Barau and Bendel Insurance also claimed important victories.
Sporting Lagos complete comeback in Aba
Sporting Lagos produced the biggest result of the round after coming from behind to defeat Enyimba 3-2 in Aba. The hosts took the lead through Stanley Dimgba in the 44th minute, but Sporting Lagos responded strongly after the interval to turn the match around.
Sporting Lagos responded seven minutes after the restart when centre-back Abdullahi Abdulraqeeb restored parity in the 52nd minute. Enyimba, however, regained their advantage just two minutes later, with Tobi Ige Iyanda calmly converting a penalty to make it 2-1.

The visitors refused to back down and mounted another comeback as Haruna Hadi levelled the contest in the 65th minute. Sporting Lagos then completed the turnaround four minutes later, with Daniel Aboh finding the net to give the visitors a 3-2 lead.
Rangers and Shooting Stars collect three points
Rangers secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Ranchers after a tense contest. The match remained goalless for 79 minutes before Chidozie Iwundu finally broke the deadlock in the 80th minute. Rangers then protected their late advantage to secure all three points.
Shooting Stars also continued their positive start with a 2-0 victory over Katsina United. Olanrewaju Ridwan opened the scoring in the 20th minute, giving the home side an early advantage. Qamar Adegoke later doubled the lead in the 72nd minute to complete the victory.
Doma United held by Plateau United
Doma United and Plateau United shared four goals in an entertaining 2-2 draw. Michael Adegbite gave Doma United the advantage with goals in the 35th and 47th minutes, putting the hosts in a strong position early in the second half.
Plateau United responded with a determined comeback. Gideon Monday pulled one back in the 58th minute before Paul Samson completed the turnaround in the 77th minute. Neither side could find a winning goal in the remaining stages.
Inter Lagos and Kano Pillars also finished level, playing out a 1-1 draw. Ubong Friday gave Kano Pillars the lead in the 33rd minute, but Bashir Abdulkarim restored parity for Inter Lagos in the 75th minute as both teams settled for a point.
Kwara United and Barau record home wins
Kwara United defeated Nasarawa United 2-1 after a competitive encounter. Sanni Muhammed opened the scoring in the 10th minute, but Nasarawa United responded through Jofrank Istifanus in the 29th minute. Abdulsalam Abdulsalam eventually restored Kwara United’s advantage in the 68th minute.
Barau also secured three points with a 2-0 victory over Abia Warriors. Joseph Atule put Barau ahead in the 22nd minute before Ibrahim Ayoola added a second goal in the 61st minute. Abia Warriors could not produce a response as Barau held on for the win.
Bendel Insurance leave it late against Ikorodu City
Bendel Insurance secured a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over Ikorodu City. Chinedu Nwosu opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 49th minute, but Ikorodu City fought back and levelled through Salami Farouk in the 80th minute.
Insurance then found the decisive moment five minutes later. Alex Oweilayefa scored in the 84th minute to restore the home side’s advantage and secure all three points. The result completed another important victory for Bendel Insurance on Matchday 5.
Niger Tornadoes and Warri Wolves were the only teams unable to find a goal in their meeting. The two sides played out a 0-0 draw after neither attack could break the deadlock during the 90 minutes.
