FC Midtjylland coach Mike Tullberg has highlighted the progress of Nigerian forwards Stanley Iheanacho and Friday Etim, Bold Sports reports.
His comments came after the pair played key roles in Monday’s 4-1 Superliga win over Brøndby.
Iheanacho scored in the victory. Etim also impressed as Midtjylland produced a strong attacking display. The result further underlined the growing impact of the two Nigerians.
Iheanacho entered the game after scoring in Midtjylland’s 1-1 draw against Silkeborg. He also provided an assist in the 2-2 draw with Nordsjælland on September 7.
The forward then took his opportunity against Brøndby. He scored in the 23rd minute.
Etim also arrived in the game with recent form behind him. He scored against Nordsjælland.
Tullberg believes the progress of both players reflects the work around them at Midtjylland.
The coach also stressed the importance of experienced players creating the right environment for younger teammates.
“It’s great that there are people who are taking such big steps as they are now. But it’s also important that those who have experience on our team are good at giving them a framework within which they can perform,” he said.
The comments underline the confidence growing around the Nigerian duo.
Iheanacho and Etim have become increasingly important attacking options for the Danish club. Their performances have also helped Midtjylland maintain their strong start to the campaign.
Kristensen opened the scoring against Brøndby in the first half. Iheanacho then added the second goal.
Brøndby pulled one goal back through Max Ejdum. However, Gue-sung Cho and Magnus Jensen later completed the scoring for Midtjylland.
The 4-1 result gave Midtjylland another important Superliga victory. It also gave Tullberg further evidence of the progress being made by his Nigerian forwards.
For Iheanacho and Etim, the performance offered another opportunity to strengthen their growing influence in Denmark.
