Doma United continued their impressive return to the Nigeria Premier Football League with a 2-0 win over nine-time champions Enyimba at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe on Saturday.
The victory gives the newly promoted side three wins from three matches. It also strengthens their position among the early leaders of the 2026/27 NPFL season.
Doma United entered the game in strong form. They opened the campaign with a 2-0 win over Sporting Lagos. They then defeated Inter Lagos 1-0 away from home. Those results gave them six points and two clean sheets before the Enyimba clash.
The hosts started with confidence against an Enyimba side seeking its first league win. Doma United eventually found the breakthrough in the 32nd minute.
S. Rilwanu put the home side ahead. The goal gave Doma United a valuable advantage before the break.
Enyimba tried to respond before half-time. However, Doma United kept their shape and protected their lead into the interval.
The visitors needed a stronger display after the restart. Instead, Doma United remained dangerous and continued to threaten the Enyimba defence.
Doma United doubled their advantage through Fantami Yusuf in the 76th minute. The second goal changed the contest and left Enyimba with a difficult task in the closing stages.
Enyimba pushed forward in search of a way back. The nine-time champions, however, could not find a response.
Doma United managed the final stages well. They held onto their two-goal lead and secured another important three points, they now sit at the top of the table with nine points from three games.
The result adds Enyimba to a growing list of teams that have struggled against Doma United at the start of the campaign.
Doma United’s perfect record is especially notable because they only recently returned to the NPFL. Their opening victories over Sporting Lagos and Inter Lagos already suggested that the club could compete at this level.
The victory over Enyimba now gives that early impression more weight. Doma United have won all three matches and have yet to concede in the league.
For Enyimba, the defeat adds to a difficult beginning. They lost 2-1 to Niger Tornadoes on the opening weekend. Their Matchday Two fixture against Shooting Stars was postponed because of their continental commitments.
Doma United can now look ahead with growing confidence. Their perfect start has turned the promoted side into one of the early teams to watch in the 2026/27 NPFL campaign.
