Frank Onyeka has earned strong praise from Frank Lampard after helping Coventry City secure promotion to the Premier League. The midfielder joined during the winter window and quickly became a key figure in the squad’s revival.
Lampard highlighted Onyeka’s influence in stabilising midfield during the decisive stage of the season. His presence added structure, discipline, and energy as Coventry surged toward promotion.
Since arriving in February, Onyeka has made 14 league appearances, scoring once and providing one assist.

The former Chelsea manager also praised his attitude:
“The other thing he has offered is an incredible humility and work ethic.”
“He’s come in and just breezed into the squad and the dressing room and he’s come down from the Premier League as an international player and he is so humble.”
“I love that and it’s good for some of our players to see what that looks like.”
Coventry are now expected to make the deal permanent from Brentford. The club holds an option to sign him after the loan spell.
Onyeka’s experience at both club and international level has strengthened a squad preparing for top-flight football. His ability to anchor midfield could be vital as Coventry adjust to the demands of the Premier League.
