Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi saw red, but Pisa still managed to end a frustrating 17-game winless run, as they defeated Cagliari 3–1 in their Serie A clash on Sunday, Bold Sports reports.

Pisa made a bright start at home and took the lead through Stefano Moreo, who converted from the penalty spot to put the hosts 1–0 ahead. However, the momentum briefly shifted in the 37th minute when Durosinmi was sent off for violent conduct, reducing Pisa to ten men before the break.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, the hosts showed resilience after halftime. Defender Antonio Caracciolo doubled Pisa’s advantage in the 52nd minute with a right-footed shot from close range. Just two minutes later, the Italian defender struck again to make it 3–0 and give the home side a commanding lead.

Cagliari pulled one back in the 67th minute through veteran striker Leonardo Pavoletti, raising hopes of a late comeback for the visitors. Those hopes were short-lived, though, as defender Adam Obert was shown a second yellow card in the 81st minute, reducing Cagliari to ten men as well.

With both sides level in numbers, Pisa comfortably saw out the remainder of the match to secure a crucial victory, their first since November and only their second win of the season in Serie A. The result also lifted Pisa off the bottom of the table, though they remain level on points with Hellas Verona, leading only on goal difference.

While still seven points behind Fiorentina, who occupy 17th place, just outside the relegation zone, the win offers renewed hope for Pisa in their fight for survival with nine matches left to play.

For Durosinmi, however, the red card capped another disappointing outing. The Nigerian striker has struggled for consistency since joining Pisa from Viktoria Plzeň in January, registering one goal and one assist in nine appearances.

His suspension now means he will miss upcoming fixtures, further delaying his opportunity to build momentum at the club. Pisa will look to build on their morale-boosting victory when they face Como next Sunday.
