Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen will be aiming to lead Galatasaray to victory when the Super Lig leaders take on fifth-placed Başakşehir at RAMS Park on Saturday, Bold Sports reports.

The Nigerian International has been in outstanding form in recent weeks, registering at least one goal contribution in eight consecutive matches across all competitions.

His latest impact came in midweek against Premier League champions Liverpool where he provided the assist for the only goal in Galatasaray’s 1–0 victory in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 encounter.

Osimhen’s influence has been central to Galatasaray’s strong campaign. The striker has scored 18 goals and contributed five assists in 27 appearances this season, helping the Turkish champions maintain a four-point lead at the top of the Süper Lig standings.

Galatasaray are also chasing a historic European milestone. A win or a draw with Liverpool in the return leg at Anfield could see the Istanbul giants reach the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time since the 2012/13 season.

Despite the looming European fixture, head coach Okan Buruk may be reluctant to rotate heavily this weekend. Victory against Başakşehir would extend Galatasaray’s lead to seven points over title rivals Fenerbahçe, a result that would significantly strengthen their bid for a fourth consecutive league title.

Başakşehir, however, arrive in strong domestic form. Managed by former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Nuri Şahin, the club have yet to lose a league match this year. They have won six of their last eight Süper Lig games and suffered just one defeat in that stretch

The Istanbul side currently sit fifth in the table with 42 points and could close the gap on fourth-placed Beşiktaş who sit fourth with 46 points.

History, however, favors the league leaders. Başakşehir have struggled in this fixture, failing to win any of their last eight meetings with Galatasaray, who have claimed victory in seven of those encounters.

With the title race intensifying and European ambitions on the line, Saturday’s contest at RAMS Park presents another opportunity for Osimhen to underline his importance to Galatasaray’s pursuit of domestic and continental success.
