Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi has reacted to Nottingham Forest’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City at Etihad on Wednesday, a result that had huge ramifications at both ends of the Premier League table.
The 28-year-old came on in the 79th minute of the game as the visitors held on to secure a crucial point, leaving them just outside the relegation zone. It marked Awoniyi’s 10th league appearance of the season, and his 11th across all competitions.
Reacting to the result, the striker praised his teammates on his official Instagram page: “Good away points earned and top fight from the Lads. We keep going,” he posted.

Manchester City had led the game through January signing Semenyo, who scored his 15th Premier League goal this season to make it 1-0. Gibbs-White leveled the score line in the 56th minute before Rodri found the net few minutes later to regain the hosts’ lead.
However, the drama didn’t end there. In the 76th minute, Forest equalised again through Anderson’s brilliant goal from the edge of the box, making it 2-2. City then came close to snatching all three points with the final kick of the game, but Murillo made a superb goal-line clearance to deny Savinho, keeping the scores level.
The result ensures that Nottingham Forest remain outside of the relegation zone as they sit 17th with 28 points, level on points with West Ham who are 18th. Meanwhile, the result affects City’s title push as they are now seven points behind leaders Arsenal, although Guardiola’s side have a game in hand.
Forest’s next game will come up in the Europa League when they host Midtjylland in the first leg of their round of 16 tie next week Thursday. For City, there’s little time to rest as they face Newcastle in the FA Cup this weekend before their huge Champions League clash against Real Madrid next week Wednesday.
