Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi earned glowing praise from Sky Sports analyst Jamie Carragher following Fulham’s impressive 3-1 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Sunday, Bold Sports reports.

The 29-year-old delivered a brilliant performance as Fulham became only the second team to claim an away win at Sunderland this season. After a quiet first half, Iwobi made his mark by providing the assist for the Cottagers’ opening goal before sealing the result himself with a composed finish in the 85th minute to wrap up the contest.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Super Sunday Extra Time show, Carragher lauded the Nigerian international, describing him as the kind of player every manager values highly, particularly Fulham boss Marco Silva.

“For me, he’s one of those players who can play different positions, he’s a manager’s dream, especially a Marco Silva dream,” Carragher said.

The former Liverpool defender highlighted Silva’s long-standing admiration for Iwobi, recalling how the Portuguese coach first signed him at Everton before bringing him to Fulham.

“This is a guy who spent a lot of money to bring him from Arsenal to Everton. He then took him from Everton to Fulham. He’s a huge fan and you can understand why.”

Carragher also praised Iwobi’s physical attributes and technical quality, insisting his overall contribution is often underestimated.

“Physically, he’s absolutely fantastic. The quality he shows, an assist from a set piece and a lovely finish as well, this quality he’s got is actually underrated. We don’t maybe speak about it enough.”

“We speak about other Fulham players and rightly so, but he’s certainly up there with the best players that Fulham have got this season.”

Iwobi has now registered three goals and three assists in the Premier League this campaign and will be aiming to maintain his fine form as Fulham push for a European qualification place.
