Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi marked his return to action for Beşiktaş in emphatic fashion, scoring in their dominant 4-0 victory over Göztepe in Sunday’s Turkish Super Lig encounter.
Ndidi had been granted compassionate leave after travelling to Nigeria for his father’s burial and missed last week’s 3-2 win over İstanbul Başakşehir.
Back in the starting line-up, the Nigerian midfielder wasted little time in making his presence felt.
He opened the scoring in the ninth minute, rising highest to power home a header from a corner kick and set the tone for a commanding display. The strike was his second goal in 17 appearances for the club since joining the Turkish giants last summer.

Beşiktaş maintained control throughout the contest, with Michael Murillo doubling the advantage in the 36th minute. Junior Olaitan added a third in the 59th minute before Oh Hyeon-Gyu sealed the rout in the 74th minute, capping a comprehensive performance in front of their home supporters.
The victory lifts Beşiktaş to fourth place on the table, 12 points behind leaders Galatasaray, as they intensify their push for a top-three finish this season.
Speaking after the match, manager Sergen Yalçın praised his team’s display, describing it as their finest outing of the campaign.

“Today’s game was satisfying. Hopefully, things will be even better from now on. It was our best game of the season. We are coming from a difficult period. The game played and the score achieved by the team were the best of the season. I thank my players.”
