Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Juan Musso has heaped praise on Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman following his standout display against Barcelona in Thursday’s first leg of the Copa del Rey semifinal.
Lookman proved unstoppable against the reigning champions, contributing both a goal and an assist as the hosts thrashed Hansi Flick’s side 4-0. This followed his similar heroics against Real Betis in the quarterfinals, highlighting his consistent impact in the competition.
The performance added to Lookman’s remarkable start in Spanish football. The Nigerian international has now been involved in four goals over three matches, with Atletico’s attack showing a notable improvement since his arrival.
For context, the team scored nine goals in their first eight games of 2026, while in the three games Lookman started afterward, they have already matched that tally against two of the best teams in the country.

Due to his early exploits, the 28-year-old has quickly won over Atletico fans and teammates, with Musso the latest to commend Lookman’s instant impact on the team.
“I love that Ademola Lookman is here. I know him as a person, his family, his humility, his work ethic,” the goalkeeper said after the big victory.
Musso was also Lookman’s teammate at Atalanta, witnessing him score a hat-trick to clinch the 2023-24 Europa League, marking the Italian club’s first ever European trophy.
“He helped me win the Europa League,” the goalkeeper added. “He scored three goals in the final, he’s crazy. Having him here is a huge joy, above all because of the person he is.”

With a huge result achieved in the first leg, Lookman and Atletico Madrid will look to finish the job when they face Barcelona in the second leg on Tuesday, March 3. Before then, they’ll resume La Lifa action with a visit to Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.
