Algeria’s head coach, Vladimir Petković, has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to continue their unbeaten streak against Nigeria during a press briefing on Friday.

The Desert Warriors are set to clash with Nigeria in a crucial AFCON 2025 quarter-final match at Marrakech’s Stade de Marrakech this Saturday.

‎Algeria holds a slight advantage, although Nigeria famously won on penalties against them in the 1988 AFCON held in Morocco.

‎Petković emphasized the importance of tactical discipline and clinical execution, noting that Algeria cannot afford any mistakes facing the determined Super Eagles.

“Our mindset is strong. We are reliable and full of quality. Against Nigeria, every detail matters; we must defend and attack well, leaving nothing to chance,” the coach stated.

‎Captain Riyad Mahrez acknowledged the pressure of playing on home soil but remains determined to make this AFCON his crowning achievement.

‎“There is pressure to win at home. Only the best team will progress.
‎“I hope to make my last AFCON special by winning the trophy,” Mahrez said.

‎With both sides eager to secure a place in the semifinals, Saturday’s match promises to be a tightly contested battle showcasing top African football talent.
