…Red Star Belgrade ends three-game losing streak

D’Tigers forwards Jordan Nwora, Chima Moneke and Semi Ojeleye combined for 44 points as KK Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) edged Virtus Bologna 90–89 in a pulsating EuroLeague Round 17 encounter on Friday at the Belgrade Arena.

Coming into the game on the back of three consecutive defeats, Red Star were eager to halt their losing run, return to winning ways and boost their chances of securing a playoff spot.

The hosts started brightly, outscoring their visitors 23–15 in the opening quarter. Bologna responded strongly in the second period, taking it 31–22 to go into the halftime break with momentum. Red Star narrowly claimed the third quarter 25–24 before edging the final period 20–19 to seal a dramatic one-point victory.

Red Star had to hold their nerve in the closing seconds as Carsen Edwards’ final three-point attempt rattled the rim, with Ojeleye securing the rebound to confirm their first win in four games.

Codi Miller-McIntyre was outstanding for the hosts, recording a double-double with 21 points, 10 assists and four rebounds. Jordan Nwora followed closely with 20 points, three rebounds and two steals, while Chima Moneke posted 13 points and seven rebounds. Semi Ojeleye added 11 points, five rebounds and two steals.

Despite the loss, former Boston Celtics and Detroit Pistons guard Carsen Edwards led all scorers with 29 points, along with three rebounds and two assists. Luca Vildoza contributed 16 points, nine assists, four rebounds and two steals, while Derrick Alston Jr. added 13 points and Karim Jallow chipped in with 11.

The win lifts Red Star to eighth place on the standings, level with Real Madrid on a 10–7 record but ahead on points differential. Bologna, meanwhile, sit 12th on the table.
