Henry Onyekuru was on target in Adana Dimirspor’s 5-3 win over 10-man Kayserispor in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday at the New Adana Stadium ending his nine-game goals drought.

The Nigeria international last found the back of the net for Adana scoring a brace in their 6-0 thrashing of Istanbulspor on the 5th of January 2023 but has since failed to register his name on the score sheet despite being a regular for the side.

It was an explosive game between both sides. Cherif Ndiaye scored a brace for the hosts while Younes Belhanda and Yusuf Sari were also on target before Onyekuru’s coolly converted penalty in the 52nd minute. Mame Thiam scored a hat-trick for the visitors but his heroics was not enough to earn them at least a point.

Onyekuru was in action for 72 minutes before making way for Fredrik Gulbrandsen. His compatriot Babajide David was not listed for the game. Nigerian defender Anthony Uzodimma was in action for the entire duration of the game for Kayserispor.

The former Galatasaray forward says he is excited with the win and goals which will make the fans happy, “Great home win, lots of goals for the supporters. Let’s finish strong.”
