Asante Kotoko forward Albert Amoah is confident that his side will advance to the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup at the expense of Nigerian opponents Kwara United.
Amoah was the star of the first leg, scoring twice as Kotoko edged Kwara United 4-3 in a thrilling preliminary-round clash at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The Ghanaian giants, winners of last season’s FA Cup, will only need a draw in the return leg to book their place in the second round. Kwara United, however, who also lifted the Nigerian FA Cup last season, must win by at least 1-0 at home to progress, thanks to the away goals rule, which still applies in African continental competitions.

Despite Kotoko conceding three goals, Amoah remains optimistic about their chances.
“I think we played very well. We wanted to score more goals, and we did, but we also made a few mistakes at the back,” Amoah said. “We conceded three goals, but we are not giving up. We are going there to qualify.”
On the other side, Kwara United head coach Tunde Sanni is equally confident that his Afonja Warriors can overturn the deficit when they host the Ghanaian side at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.
