Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) champions Bayelsa Queens will be aiming to lift the WAFU B Cup for the second time when they face Ivorian champions ASEC Mimosas in the final scheduled to hold in Yamoussoukro on Friday, Bold Sports reports.
Bayelsa Queens won the regional tournament in 2022, and have been unbeaten so far in this campaign. The Prosperity Ladies secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Police Ladies in their opening game before defeating ASKO 3-0 and Sam Nelly 4-1 to top their group.
They then qualified for the final by coming from behind to defeat Burkina Faso’s USFA 2-1 in the semi-final courtesy of goals from Emem Essien and Janet Akekoromowei who won the player of the match award.
Led by head coach Traore Siaka, ASEC Mimosas were crowned champions of Ivory Coast for the 2024-25 season and are competing in the Women’s Champions League qualifying tournament for the very first time.
However, the Ivorian representatives, backed by their fanbase, have been impressive so far, reaching the final by securing victories over Niger’s AS GNN and USFA in the group stage before thrashing Ghana’s Police Ladies 4-1 in the semi-final.
With history on the line, the Ivorians will be highly motivated to overcome Bayelsa Queens and clinch the WAFU B Cup at their first attempt.

The winner of the final will secure a spot in the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League and also have the chance of reaching both the FIFA Women’s Club World Cup and the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup. Meanwhile Police Ladies will face off against USFA for the third place position.
