Ikorodu City will be aiming to secure their first victory of the 2025-26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season when they host El Kanemi Warriors in their matchday two clash on Sunday, Bold Sports reports.

The Oga Boys earned a valuable point on the road in their season opener, holding Kwara United to a goalless draw, but they will now be targeting all three points as they play their first home game of the campaign.

Their opponents, El Kanemi Warriors, come into the fixture full of confidence after a commanding 2-0 win over Bendel Insurance in their opening match, despite being reduced to ten men in the 74th minute.

Ikorodu City will draw encouragement from their positive head-to-head record against El Kanemi. Last season, they defeated the Maiduguri-based side 2-0 at home before securing a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture away.

Having surprised many with a fourth-place finish last season, Ikorodu City will be eager to build on that success, while El Kanemi Warriors — who narrowly avoided relegation by finishing 16th — will be determined to improve their standing this campaign.

The Mobolaji Johnson Arena has been a stronghold for Ikorodu City, where they won 15 of their 19 home matches last season and suffered only two defeats. They will be hoping to maintain that impressive home form when they face the Warriors.

Elsewhere in Sunday’s NPFL fixtures, Bayelsa United will welcome league newcomers Barau FC, while Enyimba will seek their first win of the season against Niger Tornadoes. Kano Pillars host Wikki Tourist, and Abia Warriors travel to Nasarawa United in search of back-to-back victories.

Meanwhile, Rivers United, who held defending champions Enyimba to a draw on opening day, will be hoping to secure their first three points of the season against Kwara United. Plateau United face Katsina United, and Warri Wolves take on Enugu Rangers to round off the weekend’s action.
