Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has been named the Best Player of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) following her standout performances throughout the competition, Bold Sports reports.
Ajibade not only captained the Super Falcons to their 10th WAFCON crown, but also played a key role in their dramatic 3-2 comeback win against host nation Morocco in Sunday’s final at Rabat’s Olympic Stadium.
The 25-year-old was ever-present for Nigeria during the tournament, appearing in all matches from the group stage to the final. Her performances earned her three Player of the Match awards and a spot in the group stage Best XI.

Ajibade elevated her game in the knockout rounds — providing two assists in Nigeria’s 5-0 rout of Zambia in the quarterfinals and netting the opener in their hard-fought 2-1 semifinal victory over South Africa.
The Player of the Tournament award adds to Ajibade’s growing list of individual accolades, having previously clinched the Golden Boot and a Team of the Tournament spot at the 2022 edition which was also held in Morocco.
The triumph marks a significant milestone for the former Atlético Madrid star, who led Nigeria to WAFCON glory for the first time as captain.
Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie was recognised as the tournament’s Best Goalkeeper after keeping four clean sheets, while Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak claimed the Golden Boot with five goals.
