The Nigeria Basketball Federation has named a 17-man provisional roster for the D’Tigers ahead of the 2025 FIBA Men’s Afrobasket, scheduled to take place in Angola from August 12 to 24, Bold Sports reports.
Nigeria’s senior men’s national basketball team, D’Tigers, will be aiming to win their second continental title as they prepare to compete in the tournament, which will be held across two Angolan cities, Luanda and Moçâmedes.
The list, released on Thursday, includes just one NBA player: Josh Okogie, recently signed by the Houston Rockets. He will be joined by Nwamu Ike, Caleb Agada, Wesley Iwundu, Ugochukwu Simon, Mike Nuga, Stanley Okoye, Deviné Eke, Folabomi Fayemi, and Emmanuel Omogbo.

Other invitees include Talib Zanna, Christian Mekowulu, Martins Igbanu, Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu, Peter Olisemeka, and Tonye Jekiri.
Notable omissions from the preliminary squad include Precious Achiuwa, Gabe Vincent, Jordan Nwora, Chima Moneke, and Chimezie Metu, who is currently sidelined by injury. The team’s training camp is expected to open next week, with the possibility of more players being added to the roster.
D’Tigers have been drawn into Group B, where they will face two-time defending champions Tunisia, alongside Madagascar and Cameroon. Nigeria will open their campaign against Madagascar, followed by a clash with Tunisia, before wrapping up the group stage against Cameroon.
