D’Tigers shooting guard Josh Okogie has agreed to a one-year, $3.1 million contract with the Houston Rockets, Bold Sports reports.

The Rockets confirmed the signing of the former Minnesota Timberwolves and Phoenix Suns guard, who became a free agent after being waived by the Charlotte Hornets on June 15.

Okogie was traded to Charlotte from Phoenix on January 15, 2025, and featured in 15 games (six starts) for the Hornets, averaging 8.9 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.8 steals in 18.3 minutes per game.

Renowned for his defensive prowess, energy, and athleticism, Okogie is expected to bolster Ime Udoka’s team on the defensive end. In a combined 40 games with the Suns and Hornets during the 2024–25 season, he averaged 1.20 steals in 15.6 minutes per game.

Among players who featured in at least 40 games last season, he ranked fourth in the NBA in steals per 36 minutes (2.8).

The 26-year-old has appeared in 416 games (167 starts) over seven NBA seasons, averaging 6.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 0.93 steals in 19.1 minutes per contest.
