Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey has opened up on how he manages pressure in the Premier League, revealing that he no longer feels as nervous as he did during his debut season at Fulham, Bold Sports reports.
The 25-year-old, who was recently voted Fulham’s Player of the Season for the 2024–25 campaign, made 35 league appearances for the club. His consistent performances were instrumental in helping the Cottagers amass 54 points — their highest-ever tally in a Premier League season.
It was a standout year for Bassey, who not only recorded the most minutes of his professional career but also contributed two goals — including a memorable header that eliminated defending champions Manchester United from the FA Cup.

Speaking on The Bassey and Iwobi Show, the Nigerian international reflected on his growth, noting that he’s now better equipped to handle expectations and is focused on giving his all in every match.
“Before games in my first season, I was a bit anxious, I used to get a bit nervous. But then I don’t get as nervous anymore. It’s more expectation on myself to do well. Win, lose, draw, all I can do is my give a 100 percent,” Bassey said.
“I might lose the ball five times, I might not defend my best, but I’ve given a 100 percent effort. That’s always my mindset. And for me also to enjoy because this is something I liked doing when I was younger,” he added.
With the new season fast approaching, Calvin Bassey will be aiming to build on his impressive form as Marco Silva’s side look to surpass their historic achievements and push for even greater success in the upcoming campaign.
