‘I’m over the moon’ — Aina delighted with Forest contract extension

Super Eagles fullback Ola Aina has shared his excitement about signing a three-year contract extension with Nottingham Forest, expressing his delight at continuing his time with the club, a place he already considers home, Bold Sports reports.

Aina’s new deal will see him remain at the City Ground until 2028, further underlining the key role he has played since arriving from Italian side Torino in July 2023.

Speaking on his contract renewal, Aina said: “I’m over the moon, I can’t wait to continue this journey with the Club. It’s always felt like a home ever since I joined and I’m happy to be here. Now my focus is on preparing for the new season well and getting back to hard work.”

Club owner Evangelos Marinakis praised Aina’s contribution since his arrival at the club, saying: “Ola has skill, determination and character in abundance. He epitomises the culture and hard work we expect from everyone associated with Forest. He has had a big influence since his arrival here and we look forward to continuing that journey together to help us achieve incredible things.”

Ross Wilson, Nottingham Forest’s Chief Football Officer, also expressed his admiration for Aina’s impact on the squad: “Since the moment Ola joined the Club, we have loved his influence and personality on the team. He’s someone we all enjoy working with every day.”

“Everyone can see how much he gives the team on the pitch, and we also see every day what he brings off the pitch to our group. Ola shares our ambition and believes in the direction of the Club, and we are delighted he has further extended his time here,” he aded.

The 28-year-old fullback, who featured in 35 of Forest’s 38 Premier League matches last season, will be aiming to build on his outstanding form heading into the new campaign.

Aina is expected to rejoin the Nottingham Forest first-team squad on Monday when pre-season training kicks off at the Nigel Doughty Academy ahead of the 2025-26 season.
