Former NBA star , Al-Farouq Aminu, has once again demonstrated his commitment to grassroots basketball development in Nigeria — this time with the donation of a brand-new electric scoreboard to the Oyo State Basketball Association.

The scoreboard was officially presented to Barrister Damola Awosika, Vice Chairman of the Oyo State Basketball Association, and the coach of Oyo state men’s basketball team Taiye Sobogun during the final day of the Al-Farouq Aminu Good Works Basketball Camp at the historic Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan.

This gesture is part of Aminu’s ongoing efforts to not only train and mentor young talents through his annual camp now in its 9th year but to also upgrade infrastructure and support the growth of organized basketball in the region.

“We’re starting to understand basketball in Nigeria, and that’s a beautiful thing,” Aminu said earlier during the camp, where he also encouraged other professional players to collaborate and contribute instead of trying to go it alone.

Aminu, who was the first active Nigerian NBA player to host a youth basketball camp in Nigeria, continues to raise the bar, combining mentorship, access, and resources in ways that leave lasting impact.

With this latest donation, he further cements his legacy as a player who didn’t just come home to boast, but to build.
