Ademola Lookman is reportedly on Arsenal’s radar following his impressive form at Atalanta, but concerns over his age and resale value may prevent a concrete move, according to SunSport.

The Nigerian international has caught the attention of the Gunners after another strong season in Serie A, where he helped Atalanta secure Champions League qualification. However, SunSport reports that decision-makers at the Emirates are uncertain whether the 27-year-old has already reached his peak.

Lookman, who is valued at around £50 million, appears content in Italy after a turbulent moment earlier in the season, when he had a public fallout with manager Gian Piero Gasperini following a missed penalty that saw Atalanta crash out of the Champions League against Club Brugge. The situation has since cooled, and Lookman is now expected to see out his contract, which runs until the summer of 2027.

The former Charlton, Everton and Leicester City forward has become a fan favourite in Bergamo, and his resurgence could keep him in Serie A longer. Liverpool are also monitoring his situation, though SunSport reports the Reds are exploring a swap deal involving Federico Chiesa – a proposal Arsenal are not interested in pursuing.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are moving quickly in the market this summer and could splash another £200 million in transfers. Their aggressive approach has reportedly surprised rivals such as Barcelona, with deals for key targets already progressing.

Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres is believed to be high on Arsenal’s list, with SunSport claiming the club hopes to wrap up a deal worth between £60 million and £70 million. “SunSport understands Gyokeres, 26, is ready for a change of scenery after a two-season spell that has seen him net 95 goals in 100 appearances in all competitions.”

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is keen to complete major deals early to give his squad enough time to gel before their pre-season tour of Asia. “There are moments and players are used more and less,” Arteta said when addressing recent criticism over the handling of 18-year-old Ethan Nwaneri.

“He’s played a lot, probably more than anybody expected for sure. In the last few games, because of the games and the context, we decided not to play him that much. It can change very quickly.”
