Remo Stars’ upcoming Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) clash against Lobi Stars has been postponed as the league leaders currently face a goalkeeping dilemma, with both Kayode Bankole and Obassa Adebiyi called up to represent their countries.
Obassa Adebiyi has been Remo Stars’ primary goalkeeper, delivering consistent performances in the league while Kayode Bankole has also been impressive, representing both Remo Stars and the Super Eagles B.
Their remarkable performances earned them international recognition as Kayode Bankole received his first-ever Super Eagles call-up for the World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe while Obassa Adebiyi was called up to represent Benin Republic in their matches against Zimbabwe and South Africa.

The international call-ups for Kayode Bankole and Obassa Adebiyi forced the postponement of Remo Stars’ match against Lobi Stars, as the team was left without a sufficient number of goalkeepers.
On the other hand, the call-ups created an opportunity for Abiola Sabitu, on loan from Osun United, to contribute to Remo Stars’ campaign. However, with the match against Lobi Stars postponed, his debut will have to wait.
The postponement has reignited the debate about the league’s scheduling, with supporters arguing that the season should be temporarily halted during international breaks to prevent disruptions like this.
