Niger Tornadoes midfielder Papa Daniel Mustapha has reacted to his first-ever Super Eagles call-up, revealing that he was shocked and will be eager to prove himself to Nigeria and the global football community if given the chance.

In recent months, Papa Daniel Mustapha has established himself as a standout talent in the NPFL, with notable achievements including a triumph over Ghana with the Super Eagles B team in the African Nations Championship qualifiers.

Papa Daniel’s exceptional skill, particularly with his left foot, has been on full display for Niger Tornadoes this season, as evidenced by his three goals and two assists, earning him a spot in both the provisional and final 23-man Super Eagles squads.

In an exclusive interview after joining the Super Eagles camp in Kigali, Papa Daniel revealed that he was not expecting a call-up: “I never expected it, I was just doing my thing. When I saw the provisional list I was shocked, and then when I saw the 23-man list, I was very very happy.”

Papa Daniel expressed his admiration for his teammates, revealing his eagerness to showcase his quality: “Thanks to God because it’s not easy for me to be here and seeing the big boys in camp being my first time with the Super Eagles. I’m very very happy, seeing them around is a motivation for me to do more and show them who I am.”

“They are all friendly, they encourage us, we the home-based players haven’t felt like we’re not among them, this is not like our first time,” he added.

The Niger Tornadoes midfielder stated that he will be excited to make his debut for the Eagles; “To me I know we have everything so I’m just praying for the luck. I’ll be very very happy if I have the chance, I’ll show Nigeria and the world who I am and what I can do.”

He also revealed his willingness to learn from his teammates, stating, “I love good footballers, when I see you play and know I can learn something from you, I admire them and pick things I need to learn to improve myself.”
