Nigeria’s U17 women’s team, the Flamingos, have secured a spot in the final round of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, defeating South Africa’s Bantwana 2-0 at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne to win 5-1 on aggregate.

The Flamingos had already gained a significant advantage with their 3-1 win in the first leg which took place at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria, meaning a draw would suffice to advance.

However, South Africa’s Bantwana were determined to cause an upset and keep their qualifying hopes alive, seeking to achieve their third appearance at the World Cup.

Despite Bantwana’s efforts, the Flamingos dominated the match, with Harmony Chidi scoring again after her impressive performance in the first leg. Aishat Animashaun also found the net, securing a comfortable 2-0 victory for Nigeria’s U17 girls.
