Super Eagles Midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi will work under a new manager as Leicester City have appointed Ruud Van Nistelrooy to replace the sacked Steve Cooper.

Ndidi and his teammates will be hoping to benefit from the experience and winning mentality of the former Manchester United Striker, who signed a contract until June 2027.

Leicester currently sit 16th in the Premier League, just one point above the relegation zone. Van Nistelrooy’s first match in charge will be against West Ham on December 3, but first-team coach Ben Dawson will oversee the team’s clash with Brentford this Saturday.

Van Nistelrooy, 48, expressed excitement about his new role: “I’m proud, I’m excited. Everyone I’ve spoken to about Leicester City has great stories about the quality of people here, the supporters, and the club’s impressive recent history.”

The Dutchman arrives with a solid coaching pedigree, having led PSV Eindhoven to second place in the Eredivisie in the 2022-23 season. He also recently served as interim manager at Manchester United, where he recorded three wins and a draw, including victories over Leicester City.

Leicester chairman, Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha believes Van Nistelrooy’s appointment will boost the club’s fortunes.

“Ruud’s experience, knowledge, and winning mentality will bring great value. We look forward to supporting him in achieving success for our fans and club,” he said.
