Nigerian basketball stars Chimezie Metu and Chima Moneke are set to face off in a high-stakes EuroLeague clash today. Metu’s FC Barcelona will host Baskonia at the Palau Blaugrana.
Barcelona enters the game on a high, fresh off a dominant 106-80 victory over Basquet Coruna in the Liga ACB. Metu, who contributed a game-high 15 points in that game, will aim to carry that momentum into the EuroLeague showdown.
Baskonia, on the other hand, is experiencing a bit of a slump, having lost their last two games against Paris and Gran Canaria. Moneke, who scored 19 points against Paris and 9 against Gran Canaria, will be eager to turn the tide for his team.
While Baskonia may be out of form, they have a recent history of success against Barcelona. They’ve won three of their last five matchups, including their last two. In their most recent encounter on October 20th, both Metu and Moneke scored 14 points apiece.
