Napoli have reached an agreement with Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli over the transfer of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.
The Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has been offered a contract worth up to ₦52.8bn (€30m) per year by the Saudi club.
This potential deal, which would make Osimhen one of the highest-paid footballers in the world, was revealed by renowned football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
Providing key details of the potential transfer, Romano said, “Club to club deal done for €75/80 million total package, Al Ahli have already booked a medical.”
He also added that the club had offered the Nigerian a four-year deal with a release clause.
“Four-year contract worth €25/30 million per season net to Osimhen + RELEASE clause.”
In Naira, this translates to an annual salary ranging from ₦44bn to ₦52.8bn net. This astronomical compensation would catapult Osimhen into the upper echelons of global football earnings, underscoring the immense financial power of Saudi Arabian football.
A crucial aspect of the deal is the inclusion of a release clause, which gives Osimhen the opportunity to leave for Europe if a suitable club later comes forward.
“Al Ahli have included an affordable and easy release clause for Victor Osimhen as part of their proposal. It’s lower than the reported €100 million,” he added.
“As revealed on Sunday, Victor always requested for the clause as a key part of negotiations.”
Despite the agreement between the clubs and the eye-watering salary offer, the transfer is not yet finalized as Osimhen has yet to make a decision between Al Ahli and Chelsea, who are also interested in signing him.
Osimhen has been in the news since the beginning of the transfer window after also agreeing on personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), but both clubs failed to reach an agreement. Arsenal were also said to be monitoring the 25-year-old.
