Super Eagles defender Zaidu Sanusi has arrived in Newark, United States, with FC Porto ahead of their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup, set to take place across various U.S. cities from June 14 to July 13.

Sanusi is part of Porto’s 28-man squad for the tournament. The team touched down at Newark Liberty International Airport on Tuesday night as preparations begin for the global competition.

Porto have been drawn into Group A alongside Brazil’s Palmeiras, Egypt’s Al Ahly, and Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami. The Portuguese giants will kick off their campaign against Palmeiras at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

For Sanusi, the tournament presents a valuable opportunity to regain form and playing time after a challenging 2024/25 season in which he made just eight appearances across all competitions.

The 27-year-old has featured 128 times for Porto over five seasons, scoring seven goals. He will be hoping to make a strong impression on the international stage and reestablish himself in the squad.
