Rwanda midfielder Samuel Gueulette has predicted that the Amavubi 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying clash with the Super Eagles will be more than the last time they met.
Both countries clashed in Group D of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying event with the East Africans grabbing four points out of a possible six from the Eagles. Both teams played a goalless draw at the Amahoro Stadium while they earned a 2-1 win in the deadrubber reverse fixture in Uyo.

Despite going into the game with a superior advantage based of the fact that they’re not only unbeaten against Nigeria in their last two games but the Eagles are yet to record a win in Rwanda, Gueulette insists that the stakes are higher this time and they will be playing a more difficult Nigerian side.
“We have played two times against Nigeria recently during the AFCON 2025 qualifiers. We had 4 points out of 6 against them which is impressive as they are a very strong team. But it will be a tough game this time,” Gueulette told the club website.
“The new stadium (Amahoro) is amazing and always full of fans. If, at least, we get a point against Nigeria it would be a good result. We will do everything to get good results”

Rwanda currently top Group C on goal difference while Nigeria is four points behind and in fifth place out of six teams. The Super Eagles are seeking their first win of the qualifying campaign having failed to record a win in their first two games.
