Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was in action as Galatasaray secured a crucial 2-0 win over Bodrum FK, taking them one step closer to clinching the Turkish Super Lig title.
Galatasaray came into the game needing a victory as they were only three points ahead of second-placed Fenerbahçe. However, the league leaders faced a determined Bodrum side who had secured consecutive cleansheets, helping them climb to 14th on the table.
Galatasaray took the lead few seconds to the half hour, with Lucas Torreira heading in Gabriel Sara’s freekick before a penalty claim was dismissed by VAR, keeping the visitors’ hopes alive going into halftime.
In the second half, the Turkish Champions continued to dominate the game in search of another goal. Despite a resilient effort from Bodrum, Galatasaray eventually got their second goal in the 81st minute courtesy of Davinson Sanchez’ header, ultimately securing all three points in front of a jubilant home crowd.
The victory means that Galatasaray are now six points ahead of Fenerbahçe who face off against Kayserispor on Sunday, April 20. However, their attention will quickly shift to the Turkish Cup semi-final against Konyaspor in four days time.
Victor Osimhen will be hoping to inspire Galatasaray to victory in the cup semi-final while also seeking to score his 30th goal of the season, underscoring his importance to the Turkish powerhouse.
