One-cap Super Eagles forward, Anthony Nwakaeme, has joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Fayha on a two-year deal after the expiration of his contract with Turkish side, Trabzonspor.
The club announced the signing on their social media handle on Friday, “The Board of Directors of Al-Fiha headed by Professor Abdullah bin Ahmed Abanemi concluded the procedures of contracting the Nigerian Anthony Nwakaeme for the next two seasons.”
Nwakaeme joined the club after spending four seasons in Turkey with Trabzonspor where he scored 41 goals and provided 36 assists in 120 appearances for the club including playing an instrumental part in delivering a domestic league trophy for the club for the first time since the 1983/84 season. The Nigerian however failed to agree terms with the Turkish side after several meetings.
The 33-year-old will be hoping to help Al-Fayha improve their performance in the 2022/23 season. They finished 10th in the 2021/22 league campaign with eight wins, 11 losses and 11 draws.
Nwakaeme will be hoping to be in the club’s matchday squad to face log leaders Al-Hilal on Wednesday August 31 at the King Fahd Stadium, Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Stadium.
